Here’s a little bit of whimsy for your holiday blog reading pleasure. . .

imageHave you ever noticed that this time of year laundry baskets explode??  From April through early fall, I seem to manage the laundry fairly well.  All the little shorts and t-shirts fit so nicely into one good sized basket that I can hide away in my bedroom closet.

But then the winter hits in full force sometime around Halloween.  The sweatshirts and jeans and socks come out.  The snow pants get wet and dirty.  One person changes clothes and it’s as if an avalanche has happened in my once neat and tidy, hidden away basket.  And all of a sudden I find myself up to my eyeballs in mounds of dirty clothes.

Last week I went to Target on a mission to purchase a newer, bigger, more practical laundry basket that would assist me in feeling better about my dilemma.  FYI - they don’t make on big enough to soothe the pain.

So I decided to use my church planting skills of ingenuity and making something work out of nothing. . .I personally think that I have come up with quite the brilliant Plan B

What do you think?

Should I keep it??

Oh, boy! Don't take offense to this, but you HAVE to throw Plan B totally out the window! Or, at the very least, out of the bathtub. Take a "Calgon moment," fill up the tub with bubbles instead of dirty clothes, take in some chocolate chip cookies for the pain ('cause your hubby won't kick you out of the tub just for eating in it... as opposed to eating in bed), and pretend this never existed! Once you come back to reality, you should look into one of those sorter baskets that have 3 separate sections. I sort mine by whites, colors, and heavies (like jeans). Whatever section gets filled up first is the load I wash. We don't go through a lot of whites, so I do that load only once a week. I love this system so far- if I could only keep my hubby out of the sorter (colors in with the whites- it drives me insane...I may start eating in bed!)

Oops! This is about having choices...You could go back to shorts and t-shirts; or course that would limit your existence to the indoors. I would recommend eating everything with cayenne for those mad dashes from the car to the grocery store (oddly enough, cayenne keeps me warm, go figure...) You could also try a "Walden Pond" method (my personal favorite that I would like to incorporate if I could get the rest of the family to agree with). Obviously you're wearing one set of clothing, an another set in the "wash mode." There's enough members in our family that I could do a load of laundry a day. And it would save on closet space! Or one last thought...a lady I know, she totally avoided doing the laundry; she went shopping for a clean outfit. Told me she did this for a month! Obviously not very practical, and I'm guessing she's probably still paying off her credit cards!

@Anne - I think I like the idea of buying a new outfit every day instead of washing. Now I just need to figure out how to fit that into the budget. . .food for my family or clothes for me. I suppose I should go wash another load.

How 'bout this idea- has anyone tried using Febreeze instead of washing? You know what I mean- if it's a little smelly and you haven't spilled coffee down the front of your shirt...I personally haven't tried it just because I'm leery of using chemicals...

I like your tub laundry basket. Most people I know do not use there spa tubs anyway, so this is a great use for it!
