Happy Birthday to Us!
Welcome to Glocalnet’s newest feature created just for church planting wives! Today is our birthday – day #1 of the journey – and I’m so excited to celebrate together with you. Each of you ladies already hold a special place in my heart. I have been dreaming of connecting with you, loving on you, walking beside of you and enjoying our friendship for a lot of years. Today is the birthday of that dream. I hope you are equally as thrilled. I’m pretty sure that we are in for a fantastically wild ride as our stories begin to unfold.
My name is Amy Colón and I am a church planting wife in Superior, Colorado. My story in a nutshell is this. . .
Eleven years ago I married a wonderful man named Kevin, and almost immediately the craziness of our journey began. Only weeks into marriage we both found ourselves in seminary and in youth ministry at NorthWood Church. A few years later we moved back to Kentucky (where I’m from) to help start a church with Kevin’s best friend, Pete, just outside of the city where we went to college. Two years after that Kevin and I moved back to TX with our then 1 year old daughter, Emma, to complete Northwood’s church planting internship program while we both finished seminary. Another baby and 2 years later, the final step thus far took us trekking off to Boulder County, Colorado, to start Cool River Church. Cool River Church is where we are today. . .6+ years later.
That’s me all wrapped up in a nice, neat gift. We’ll unwrap is as time goes on and see if it’s really as neat as it looks. But for today, this is my birthday wish for this blog. . . simply to create conversation. Yep, that’s really it. And out of conversation I fully anticipate that friendship, encouragement, mentoring, laughter and maybe even a few good tears will automatically occur. I really want to get to know each of you and I pray that this will become a safe place for you to come and just relax in the middle of your days. So make sure you come back and meet with us often. Please leave comments and ask questions and jump right into this new adventure. Happy Birthday!!!
Conversation starter of the day: Please introduce yourself. . .who and where are you?

I am a (young, turning 30 this year!) mama and blessed wife living in Boulder County, Colorado. My husband, Kris, is pastor of Emmaus Road Community. We have been planting this church for two years and are amazed at the "dailyness" of church planting. Many times we tell each other, "I'm so thankful we know beyond a shadow of a doubt called has called us here, or I'd head for a simpler life". But then there are many days where we stand amazed and what God is doing and so thankful he is using us.
I have been married 8 years, have three kiddos, and love working alongside Kris. My favorite job is being his wife. Excited to meet more of you!

My name is Debi Hinton. My husband and I planted New Horizons Christian Church in Rancho Cordova, CA with Stadia. We are into year four. It has been a wild ride. Church planting is definitely not for the faint of heart.

Hi. My husband and I are currently planting Church of the Cross in Peoria, AZ. We've been here for a little under two months now. My husband (of 11 years) went to Seminary in Louisville. He was a pastor in Texas for the past 3 1/2 and we've been back in Arizona for just under two months now planting this church. I'm so thankful for Amy and the support she is so passionate to provide to church planter's wives! It is SOOO needed! Thank you! I'm looking forward to visiting back to this site often. (We have four boys, 7, 5, 2 1/2 and 6 months).

Hi Amy. What a blessing it is to find you and this site. Thank you for being willing to share your journey and inviting us to share ours. My husband (of 8 years) and I just recently moved to Indian Trail, NC near Charlotte. We have begun Graceway Church. It is exciting and scary. We are parents of a beautiful 16 month old so everything is new right now. God is so wonderful and continues to provide for us. I am so looking forward to sharing this journey through your site. Thank you and God Bless!

Amy,
I'm so glad that you are doing this. Church planting wives need a place to come and relate to people in similar situations. This is a great outreach. So proud of you!
Love,
Jen Antonucci
By the way, to answer your question...My name is Jennifer Antonucci, church planting wife of Vince Antonucci. We started Forefront Church in Virginia Beach 11 years ago. We are moving to Las Vegas in 2009 to start a new church on the Strip. I thought planting one church was God's plan for us; apparently not!!!!
