WHAT I LIKE ABOUT RANDY MILLER!
A lot!
Last week one of our pastors, Randy Miller, resigned to take a position at another church. He told me God was calling him out of his comfort zone to put him on the edge. That is how God works - calling us to the unexpected and never dreamed of - it’s what makes a good story.
I’ve known Randy since he was 15 - I was his youth pastor. Five years into our church he came on staff part-time when he began seminary and then full-time upon graduation. He’s held a lot of positions at our church: youth, children, associate, discipleship . . . never did anything in music ministry though he’s got a great voice. I will miss him around NorthWood. I’m grateful for all the years of his service and commitment to our church. More than that grateful for the years of friendship.
In both services we will honor them and pray for them and then after the 11 am service there will be a reception in the PLEX to honor him, Jennifer, Cara, and Allison. If you come to the 9:30am service, we will be in the Plex by 12:30 at the latest. There will be paper to write notes.
What do I like about Randy and know about him?
1. He loves God. He has lived his life trying to please God. His commitment to growing in Christ, knowing his Word, praying - spiritual disciplines - all of it is there.
2. He’s committed to his family. He loves his wife and 2 girls and is an exceptional leader to them. That’s no small thing these days.
3. He’s one of the greatest “pastoral” pastors I’ve ever known. No one loves people more or serves individuals more selflessly than Randy in times of crisis.
4. He has an incredible sense of humor. If he wasn’t in the ministry I think he’d be a comedian or a game show host - he’s really that good.
5. He’s very consistent and steady. You can count on him.
There’s a lot more - but those 5 things are all 10’s. Take those 5 things and countless more and rock on’ - turn the world upside down - keep making a difference.

My wife and I love Randy for all those reasons and more Bob. His welcoming attitude draws newcomers into Northwood in ways that are unique to him and his personality. Without him, I might still be debating my commitment to God and a life with Him leading me.
Overlooking his Univ of Arkansas allegiance, he's okay with us! (but his sense of humor isn't THAT good!
