What I Have Been Told About These People Is Not True. . . .
I survived the flight to Melbourne, Australia. I am tired, but will be OK tomorrow. I watched Dances with Wolves, the movie, while I was in the air. It is truly an incredible movie. I think I want our church planters to watch it. What an incredible understanding of what it means to live incarnationally. At one point in the movie, Kevin Costner is reading from his journal while the characters are all laughing together. He says, “Everything I’ve been told about these people is just not true. They are people who deeply love each other and are good people.” He was speaking of the Sioux Indians that the main character lived with. I couldn’t get that out of my mind. How many people have I heard bad things about only to find they are great people. One news story or one event should not define an entire people. I wouldn’t want people defining me or my race by a single dark act. I learned that about the people of Vietnam - who I used to fear because their government was different, but now I love greatly. I have learned that about Muslims, a people of a different religion yet who have convictions as deep as my own. I don’t have to agree with someone’s politics or religion to love them. May we all be on the “path of the human being” which is the best of all to value, respect, love, and share the best of what we have with others. I can identify with Costner’s character - I would say that as well about my Palestinian brothers.

Great Movie and great point. Aus is a great place as well. Been there twice on the Sydney side. Need a lot of great church plants there also. Aus has never had a great spiritual awakening like in America. Maybe there's one coming soon.
