Talk talk talk talk - talk talk talking talking - talk talk - more talk loud talk soft talk hard tal
Ah, the wonderful world of talk. Let’s get everyone in the room and just sit down and talk about it, and we’ll fix it! No, we won’t. Jonathan Sacks just wrote a book that deals with this, The Home We Build Together. He writes about having 60 years of talking that’s led to little. He says we should keep talking BUT a better way, instead of face-to-face, person-to-person, is side-by-side sweating. It’s what I’ve been saying for at least the past ten years. Once we’ve sweated together, then we’re ready to talk. Talk without sweat is fruitless. How do we change the world? How do we turn it upside down in a positive way? What are the biggest headaches we face in the world that we can’t solve alone? We should partner with people of different race, faith, culture who are also affected by that same problem and tackle it. It opens lines of communications. It solves problems. This is the problem with diplomacy--it’s too much talk! Sacks says the reason Judaism survived is because they didn’t have a utopian view of the world, but a realist view. It forced Jews to integrate wherever they went, yet, still keep their culture. I like Jonathan Sacks. If you’re reading my blog, you da’ man. OK, Jonathan, what do you want to do together--AND, let’s do it with some Muslims,---Christian, Jew, Muslim, and we could even sprinkle in some Buddhists and Hindus. I have several friends in that camp. An atheist or two might be good to totally confuse? What say ye?

I just spent some time with a mutual friend in Egypt who lives here in the states. He was saying the same thing. We talk to much and work too little.

Amen. Seems to me like the conversation that so many are involved in needs some feet as well...

Absolutely, right on. Talk without action is worthless and a waste of time, energy and money. Talk, sweat and..................action is exactly what this world needs...........Doers of talkers is what we need. The detail quiet people who do.............need to be with the talkers.............Takes both types of people in the same room then the action plan follows and gets done. You are right and may your paths be ordered and made straight............................

Bob,
I wanted to take time to thank you so much for making the trip into Baltimore on Thursday. I drove the 4 hours to be here to see you and I truly enjoyed every minute of your interaction. With all of the traveling you do I can only imagine how taxing it can be on you and your family. Please know that for what its worth your time in Maryland was a milestone day for me and a huge encouragement. You bring a voice to so much that has frustrated me with consensus-driven church planting. Thank You.
Please thank your family for me. The sacrafices they endure for the sake of guys like myself is humbling to consider. Again I thank you.

Randy, look up Eric Herrstrom at Lake Arlington Baptist Church regarding Mongolia. They have recently done a few things there. They don't take quite the focused approach that Northwood takes, but I he would be a good contact, if for no other reason than to point you to a few other contacts. Go! Do!

Randy, We are "newbie" missionaries to Mongolia. Our family will be working in Ulaan Bataar along with Susan Griffeth. Susan has been in UB for 9 years and has an amazing community development ministry. It's called Flourishing Future. Basically, it's targeting families in UB who are on the brink of destruction and giving them the help/encouragment they are starving for. Flourishing Future does home visits/education/and vocation training. Susan began the Community Center right in the heart of the "slums" of UB. This is where we will live also. God is doing some amazing things in Mongolia. Many missionaries have worked hard and faithfully to gain the trust of the people and it is their fruit that we will be able to Harvest when we get there! Hope this helps.
