Connecting for Glocal Transformation

Remarkable

Word of mouth is the best form of marketing.  When you plant a church, you need to get people talking.  You need to get the most people talking about you the loudest.  Since most of the people around your church plant probably (hopefully) aren’t Christians, then you need to figure out how to get non-Christians talking about your church.  Get non-Christians excited about what you are doing and you will be on the verge of explosive growth and lasting community transformation.

People only talk about the remarkable.  They talk about things that exceed their expectations.  If you match their expectations the best thing you can hope for is that they won’t speak negatively about you.  Meeting expectations is not the key to generating positive word-of-mouth for your church plant.  You are going to have to exceed expectations.  You have to figure out how to be remarkable.

Get non-Christians in your community to complete the following sentences:

Christians in this community always...

Christians in this community never...

Christians in this community should...

You have to use good judgment, but if you don’t do what Christians in the community always do, if you do what they never do, and if you do what people think you should do, then you are on your way to being remarkable.

What do you need to do today to become remarkable?

In order for me to become remarkable, I must become a purple cow. People would remark about that! This TED talk is what is being talked about in this post. It's worth the watch: (you may have to cut and paste into your browser)
