OFF TO DOHA TO HEAR 1ST HAND MIDDLE-EAST REPORTS
Just about have my bags packed - tomorrow will be super busy. Last minute meetings, phone calls, etc. I hate the day I leave for anywhere because there is always so much that has to get wrapped up. Maybe tomorrow it will be slower - but I doubt it.
I’m on my way to Doha where I’ll meet with the NYON group I’m a part of - a think tank of the Alliance of Civilizations - a part of the United Nations. I’ve met with them about every 6 months the past 3 years and I’ve really enjoyed it. A couple of evangelicals - several secular Europeans, Middle-Eastern Muslims, American Muslims, and each a leader in some capacity around the world. The conversations are deep, stimulating, challenging, and at some times tense - but always thought provoking. For me, it’s lead to great relationships that have lead to partnerships for work that I do around the world.
We will be meeting in Doha. I’ll be with leaders from every conceiveable party from all the countries you’ve heard about in the news and countries you haven’t heard as much about. We will meet at Al Jazeera and then hang around for a conference of other world leaders and addresses and panels by lots of people - the new President of Brazil being one.
What would you want to ask? I have a whole list of questions I’ll be asking - what would you want me to ask? I’ll check the comments periodically and if you want I’ll ask your questions to my friends and you can hear their responses directly. Sometimes it’s hard to know what really is - News stations all have biases - but getting to talk firsthand is a blast.
I’ll try to do some interviews and have them posted as well - Chris Johns - the tech guy will be with me - so we’ll see!!!
