NorthWood Church, Temple Shalom, Irving Islamic Center Have Cook Off!
Yesterday several NorthWood ladies, along with my wife Nikki, met with several women from the Islamic Center of Irving and Temple Shalom of Dallas to have a cooking class. Everyone practiced cooking Muslim food. On another day they will prepare Kosher food, which will be followed by LARD food! It was a crazy day - I was on staff retreat with the NorthWood staff where Eddy Leo, pastor of Abba Love Church has been teaching us. I stuck my head in the door at home running from one place to the next and Nikki was so excited about meeting and cooking with the ladies.! Eddy pastors in Jarkata, Indonesia, the largest Islamic nation in the world, and his wife Rose is with him. She went and everyone had a lot of fun with her.
This week Lifeway Research released a study it commissioned Zogby to do on Islamic attitudes of Southern Baptist pastors towards Islam and the results weren’t all that encouraging. To see the study click here.
I’m convinced the tool of Satan is to get us to fear one another or view one another in ways that keep us apart from each other. How can we share the love of Jesus, if we feel so harshly towards the other? How can they hear, if we won’t even be their friend? What will they think of the Christ we profess if we won’t talk to them? All of humanity is fallen, and all of humanity faces the same hurts and challenges of each other - when we open our hearts and lives to others - we discover that. When we become friends with others that are different than us - as we’ve learned in Vietnam - we learn to love others and often they wind up loving us as well.

I agree. I think fear of other faiths and people points to a lack of trust in God and a lack of faith in the power of his love and truth to transform our world. I think greater understanding can only lead to greater love if we are pure in heart. Thank you for your post!
