Need Your Help with New Book Tagline!

image

My next book will be release real soon, but I need your help! First, what do you think about the two cover options? Really, I want your help with this.  Cover A or cover B?

Also, the current tag line is “Impact the world for Christ right where you are” - I don’t like it.  It sounds too much like you don’t have to move with God to reach the world.  Here’s one idea I had - “Transform the world doing what you do with the love of Christ” I don’t know… Give me your ideas!

I prefer option A for the cover.

How about something like..."Impact the world for Christ, doing what you already do" - focuses on using your skill sets to reach the world

or "through your existing networks" - better aligns with the connections theme, but need to be careful not imply using people in a manipulative way

or "from wherever God has put you now" - focuses on the starting point (everyone can do it from wherever they are) like the current tag line, but without implying that you will be stationary in the process. You could also just add "from" to the current tag line and get the same result..."from right where you are".

Hope that helps. Can't wait to read it.

Option B on the cover design, for sure.

The thought that came to mind in regards to the subtitle is missionary Jim Elliot's, "Wherever you are, be all there. Live to the hilt every situation you believe to be the will of God."

    Cover B

Cover B, and what about " Being who you are where God has placed you"
  • Doug Foltz says:

I like cover B. Tagline: Harvesting the potential of missional networks.
  • Joe Kennedy says:

I like cover B. The white background and artistic cover image feels open and inviting. As for your subtitle, maybe you can use the "flat world" concept, with apologies to Thomas Friedman. How about "Making Disciples in a Flat World"? Both covers are well done, but we all really look forward to the words inside. =)

    I like cover B
It reminds me of a human circuit board

    ideas for the tag line:

Impact the world for Christ, wherever he may lead

Connection through vocation, a conduit for Christ

I prefer Cover A personally. How about "loving your world to Jesus" for a tagline?
  • Patrick says:

As far as the covers goes Solution B seems to speak of the culture of Northwood. The colors of solution B bring out the warmth and love that is felt when you enter Northwood.
Simple Tag line: "Love Christ, Live Christ-Change the World"
  • Jim Hylton says:
    Mar 31, 2009 at 04:30 PM
Bob, I like "Solution A best. It is not a busy as the other possbile cover. That is a personal preference since I don't abstract art as much and like easy to grasp presentations. Your thought about a tag line of “Transform the world doing what you do with the love of Christ” is excellent. That doesn't imply your location but your heart. What you are is more important than where you are. It is exciting that the book is about ready.
    With deep appreciation, Jim Hylton

Bob, I really prefer Cover B by a country mile.

    Tagline...hmmmmmm...how about:

Discovering how God made YOU to impact the world
  • Roberto Munguia says:

My vote goes to cover B. It goes more with your personality. cover A looks very artificial. About the tag line, how about "Impact the world for Christ starting where you are"
  • Rich Earl says:
    Mar 31, 2009 at 05:48 PM
Bob, I much prefer solution B, although solution A would be better if the bubbles were not lined up in a straight line.
I don't like the word "impact" in the tag line. Perhaps "embrace" or "influence" would be better. I think "transform the world" is a bit broad.
How about "influence your world for Christ wherever you go"?
    Blessings

    I like cover A

"Christ transforms you so you can transform the world."

Connecting the World even from the Hall way.

From where God closes one door he opens another door, or opens a window, but no one talks about the hell in the hall way where God does His Greatest works.

Bob, I really like the layout of A, but the pictures look like they've been cut out of picture frames from Walmart. You could lose them all together, shift the text up, and I think it would look great.

As far as the tag, maybe something like "Impact the world for Christ through your God-given passions". Or something along those lines...

I like Cover B, it is more attractive in the sense that I am curious to open the book. Tagline: Cultivating transformative relationships
or - Tagline: Impact Your World for Christ
or - Tagline: Cultivating your influence to transform the world
  • Tyler says:

I like cover option B much better, especially the white background.

For a tagline, what about something like "Transformational Impact Independent of Location," playing with the words transformational and independent depending on the specific content of your book?

Cover 2. Like the connectivity of the artwork.

Tag, which was suggested to me which I love...
Linking your Everyday Job to God’s Global Work

That is the one baby, Rock it!

Cover B for sure - will reach both the older and younger generations.
  • Aaron Snow says:

Ya, cover B looks more "you", and cover A seems to "businessy".

..."Being intentional everywhere you are for around-the-world change"
  • David Holder says:

Cover B catches my eye. It seems to "pop."

Why not a mix between A and B? I mean, I realy like the real people from A, and color. But I prefer the web style of conection of B, so it sounds like a mix...

And the tag, how about: "impacting the World with Christ biggining right where you are"

...as I'm trying to do from my computer in Brazil!
  • joey says:

    option B, definitely.

tagline: how about "How ordinary people change the world"

The purpose of a book cover is to make the work stand out amidst the thousands of other books someone can choose from. Your eye will go to "B" first. Here's a tag line idea:
How to transform the world doing what you already do best.
  • Jill Roberts says:

    Dad,
Well i liked cover A but after reading everyone else's opinion, I was influenced to cover B. Your tag should be "ROCK IT FROM WHERE YOU ARE"
trust me, you need a young persons perspective.

    Pastor Bob,

Personally I prefer Cover A, it seems less disorganized, but following your personality, I would expect Cover B.

As for the tag line, “Impact the world for Christ right where you are” , I would suggest How I can Impact Christ's World from where I am?"

    Cover B
Jill has a good point about the tagline. Something a little edgier would be nice. If it looks too safe, the wrong people will read it.

    Here's a quick brainstorm...
"Risk everything and change the world"
"Shake your money-maker and turn the world upside down!"
"You've got it. Now use it."
"You've got what it takes to turn the world upside down."

I like the moneymaker one....but you'll have to change the cover to someone shaking "it"

Love you Bob...can't wait to get my hands on this book!

I like the idea of mixing the covers. Cover B with the dark background using the font colors of Cover A would be a nice mix. The current cover B is great, but the art overshadows the book title.

Tagline: Impact the world through Christ
    Wherever you go.
or: Christ rockin' the world through you
    Wherever you go.

    Cover A
"On Mission with Christ - Doing What You Love to Do" OR
"On Mission with Christ - Being Yourself"
  • Jordan says:

Rock it from where you are...bag it for Jesus.

Bob, it's hard to top the cover for Multiplying Church...so no comment.

    Tagline,
"Christ in you...(living in/transforming) two worlds at once"
"Transformation from Jerusalem to the ends of the earth" (Acts 1:8)
    "Transformation there from here"
    "Your community/neighborhood just got bigger"
  • AJ Vanderhorst says:

I'm gonna go with cover B, which looks more messy, engaging, and post-'90s than cover A.

    Tagline...

"Put down roots and change the world."
"Seize the day and change eternity."

Asking for input is a great idea. I've seen a lot of bad cover art and slogans. smile

  • Ben Roberts says:

I like cover B. Cover A looks like a corporate manual.

    Tagline Suggestions:

    "Move them chunky legs"
"Get on with the getting on"
    "This ain't your momma's revival"
  • AmyC says:

    Definitely B
  • Brian Hook says:

    Connection through vocation
    (book title)
    Serving out of your heart
    (tag)

Cover A looks like a cover that relates to more domains. Go with A.
Cover B will connect to the art domain.

    I like "B".

You mentioned that you don't like the current tag line because it sounds like "you don't have to move with God to reach the world."

How about something that talks about moving with God...

"... relating at the speed of God." or "... connecting at the speed of God."?
  • Ed Luskey says:

I agree with (corporate like) comments on cover A, but am way to invested in my ADD to get the lines, dots and people on cover B, but given the choice I'd say B.

As a tag line I would say something about, "Acting on or Rocking the Great Commission in todays world....." Ben has a few good one's too. Actually Jordans is Ok.

Matter of fact, we are having a dunking booth at the kids JAM night on April 15th. Would be awesome if Jordan would sit up in the booth as the "dunkee" and shout at the kids, "Rock it from where you are.....bag it for Jesus!". And if he would add"...and baptise me in the name of the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit", it would be a great lesson for the kids on the Great Commission!!! (Post big smiley face emoticon here)

I like the "B" option -- the images are open, vibrant & relational.

    Tagline Options:
"Your transformationl touch ... Anywhere HE wants"
"Christ in You ... Your Transformational Touch"
  • Becky B says:

    Cover A is more striking.

"How to bring Christ to the world from your own backyard"

"Ho to impact the globe for Christ without leaving home."
  • Matt says:
    Apr 8, 2009 at 10:15 AM
    Bob,
I'm a fan of cover B. Cover A suggests linear connections (and has a cheesy business look to it), not the organic connections that are modeled by Northwood.

As for the tagline, how about "The transformed you transforming the world with Christ."
  • Scott Young says:
    Apr 10, 2009 at 08:55 AM
If you are writing a business training manual, go for cover A.

I never like photographs for a cover - they become dated very quickly. I like the artwork on cover B.

"Impacting the world for Christ by doing what you love"
  • Oliver says:
